It was the most rewarding day of my trip. I learned so much in less than 12 hours! We started off with a stop at the market for food. Our guide explained the different products that could be found there. Then we had a drive to Hoi Som Poi Karen Hill Tribe village before starting our hike through the jungle on Thajeko Mountain. The guides explained to us the different types of plants we encountered. I could even try a fresh bite of cinnamon!

I did some research to find the best place. It turned out that many sanctuaries aren't really sanctuaries. They do not necessarily take care of the elephants and instead exploit them for tourism.
I ended up choosing Elephant Nature Park as it was recommended by many. This organization rescued and takes care of all the elephants, dogs and cats that they currently have. I only stayed a day with the elephants, but the park also offers longer visits.

The Saturday Night Market is pretty impressive. Covering all of Wui Lai Road, it's located to the south of the Old City. The opening hours are from 4pm to midnight every Saturday. Due to its popularity, many people come over to shop and eat. As a result, it gets very crowded as the evening goes on.
If you're interested in visiting markets during the whole weekend as I did, the Sunday Market is on Ratchadamnoen Road, at the center of the Old City. The opening hours are also from 4pm to midnight. It's not as impressive as the Saturday Market, but I think it's still worth to check.
The other markets that I know of are located in the eastern part of the Old City. There are many bazaars along Changklan Road. The good thing about these is that it's less touristic.

Elutheromanea is the word ‘eleutheromania’ written differently. It means ‘an intense and irresistible desire for freedom’ which is something that I have felt for many years. Since my awesome trip to Europe in late-spring 2017, that feeling definitely has expanded to another level.
