[Day 11-12] Chiang Mai: Markets

November 11, 2018

There are so many markets in Chiang Mai. It's definitely the place to go shopping for a great price on pretty much everything. Grab gifts for family and friends. Many craftsmen and artists sell their creations in these crowded places. Some of these markets also include a wide variety of food. The choice is yours! And don't forget that most sellers are open to bargain. Just bring enough cash with you.

The Saturday Night Market is pretty impressive. Covering all of Wui Lai Road, it's located to the south of the Old City. The opening hours are from 4pm to midnight every Saturday. Due to its popularity, many people come over to shop and eat. As a result, it gets very crowded as the evening goes on.

If you're interested in visiting markets during the whole weekend as I did, the Sunday Market is on Ratchadamnoen Road, at the center of the Old City. The opening hours are also from 4pm to midnight. It's not as impressive as the Saturday Market, but I think it's still worth to check.

The other markets that I know of are located in the eastern part of the Old City. There are many bazaars along Changklan Road. The good thing about these is that it's less touristic.
